Big Lock Footbridge, Bridge 172a, Trent & Mersey Canal, Middlewich

Please be advised our team will be onsite Monday, 28 October to install a temporary footbridge to replace Bridge 172A, Big Lock Footbridge on the Trent & Mersey Canal.

As part of the planned winter works, the existing footbridge will be transported off-site to be fully refurbished during the summer ready for repairs to the abutments and reinstallation of the bridge during Winter 2020. Due to a recent inspection, the Big Lock Footbridge 172a on the Trent & Mersey Canal in Middlewich has been deemed unsafe and therefore will be closed until further notice. At this moment in time we do not have a date for the works to commence or the opening of the bridge.

We will be able to provide a further update once our engineers have been able to plan a repair.
