The Devizes Phase IV Towpath Project is continuing til 30th September 2019.

The Devizes Phase IV Towpath Project is due to commence on 15th July 2019 with anticipated completion date by 23rd August 2019. The project is the refurbishment of a 1.0km section of towpath along the Kennet and Avon Canal, to the north east of Devizes, commencing from London Road Bridge 138 to Coate Road Bridge 136  

The project will be delivered by Land and Water.

The towpath is a Public Right of Way; however, Wiltshire Council have consented to the closure, the towpath will be closed for the duration of the works with diversion routes in place. The Contractor shall supply, erect and maintain temporary signs prior to the works location to notify users of the of the construction works.

The site compound will be located at The Pigs Slaughter
House and Windsor drive/Coate Road.

This work has now been delayed until 20th May 2019 and will continue until 15th July 2019.

Description

Wiltshire Council has made an order to temporarily close the footpath  from Bridge 138, London Road Bridge to Bridge 136, Coate Road Bridge to enable the uneven path to be resurfaced.

The Council will create a pedestrian diversion along the pavement of the A361 which will be clearly indicated with traffic signs.

The order will come into operation on 18th March 2019 and it is anticipated that the closure will be required for approximately 10 weeks.

The order will have a maximum duration of six months.

No moorings will be permitted within the works area during this period.
