New bridge installation upstream of South Accommodation Bridge

We have now been advised that the bridge lift will take place on Wednesday 16 January. 

The path will remain closed until 18 January.

We have now been advised by the Contractor that the Public Right of Way will now be closed between the 29th December and the 12th January, with a restriction to the watercourse for a period no longer than 20 minutes on 30th December to lift in the new bridge.

We have been advised by the Contractor that the works have now been delayed and will commence on 3rd January.

There will be a navigation restriction in place in order to facilitate the contractor, Citu. They will be lifting a new footbridge into place over the river and waterside path upstream of South Accommodation Bridge (aka Richmond flyover).

The preparation works require closure of the path for two weeks. The bridge lift can be undertaken during a restriction of the watercourse where boats will be delayed no longer than 20 minutes.

All public using the public right-of-way (waterside path) will need to follow the diversion route provided. Please contact Leeds City Council regarding any issues with the path closure.

Boaters and other navigation traffic who may be passing by for up to 20 minutes to enable the underbridge unit to move out of place.
