Due to changes in ground conditions, a few alterations to the design of how the ramp is being constructed need to implemented.
As a result of this, completion will be taking longer than expected and an update will be given at the beginning of April
We will be working with our contractors to minimise the length of time the towpath will be closed. We will aim to re-open this section of towpath as soon as its safe to do so.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause our customers.

Following discussions with our contractors the proposed start date will now be pushed back a few weeks and will commence from Tuesday 28th August 2018 with a completion date of Monday 14th January 2019.
The project will continue as outlined in the original notice.
We will have contractors starting on site at Guide Bridge on 13 August 2018 with works expected to be complete by Christmas. This project will create a link between the Ashton Canal towpath and the street level above, improving accessibility for the local community.
The work will take place on the cutting above the canal and the navigation will remain open. Unfortunately, the towpath will have to be closed as the area will be used as part of the construction works.
The towpath will be closed between Bridge 24 Hanover Street Bridge (China Bridge) and bridge 27 Pottinger Street Bridge (Jeremy Brook Bridge). There is access to alternate routes to and from the towpath at both these bridges.
