17/07/2018 16:38
The feedback from our customers so far has been positive towards the restrictions in this area. However, it is felt that closing Tuel lock on Tuesdays and Thursday would be less disruptive while providing the same protection to the water resource in this section. Bookings will still be available on Wednesdays subject to water supplies. Overnight closures on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays & Mondays.
The canal will be locked off Between Locks 1 and Tuel Lock. The first locks each evening will be put on at 4pm and our teams will work with boaters in this section after that time to ensure their passage out. Moorings are available immediately below these locks for people arriving after 4 or during one of the closed days.
The canal will be reopened at 9am on open days.
Listening to our customers is very important to us and following this feedback we are making the subsequent changes.
We would like to thank our customers for their ongoing patience and support

Further to our recent update we wanted to confirm that further controls will be introduced on the Rochdale Canal from Friday 20th July.
In overview the canal will be closed at Tuel Lock on Mondays and Fridays until further notice. Bookings will still be available on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays subject to water supplies. We are also introducing overnight closures on Saturdays and Sunday .

These restrictions are necessary so that we can endeavour to maintain navigation for the rest of the season. We will continue to monitor the water resource position and update as necessary.
