Huddersfield Narrow Canal, Lock 26E

We have decided to postpone the planned works at Lock 26E. We are doing this to try and minimise the impact to our customers of the on-going repairs to Lock 9E and the current restrictions due to the water resource issues we are experiencing.

Following the ongoing siltation issues at Lock 26E. Our contractors and staff have been investigating the problem and have come up with a solution to clear the siltation problems in Lock 26 East, starting on site Monday 23rd July. With the aim to remove the remaining silt from the chamber which is causing difficulty in operating the lock. Our contractors will aim to have the works completed by the evening Friday 27th July.
