Due to the continued drawdown of the reservoirs, the prolonged low rainfall and with the forecast for further dry weather, starting tomorrow (13 July 2018), the Trust is restricting opening hours further to between 10am and 4pm daily at the following locations:  

  • Barrowford Locks (45 to 51).  Last passage commences at 2:30pm. 
  • Greenberfield Locks (42 to 44).  Last passage commences at 3pm.
  • Bank Newton Locks (36 to 41).  Last passage commences at 3pm.
  • Gargarve (Holme Bridge Lock 30).  Last passage commences at 3pm. 

The lock flights will be padlocked closed at 4pm.  Please ensure that you enter the lock flight with sufficient time to get through, noting the last passage commencement times above.  Moorings are available at the top and bottom of the flights. 

We will continue to monitor the water resources and updates will be issued should the situation change.  Please follow the guidance given by representatives of the Trust or on site signage. 

Description

Due to the continued warm weather and low levels of rainfall, the reservoir holdings for the Leeds & Liverpool are very low.  To manage the water resources going forward, starting tomorrow (29 June 2018) overnight restrictions will be implemented.  Locks will be open to navigation from 10am to 6pm daily at the following locations:

  • Barrowford Locks (45 to 51).  Last passage commences at 4:30pm. 
  • Greenberfield Locks (42 to 44).  Last passage commences at 5pm.
  • Bank Newton Locks (36 to 41).  Last passage commences at 5pm.
  • Gargrave (Holme Bridge Lock 30).  Last passage commences at 5pm.
