Updates

Following increasing issues with leakage at Lock 9, it has been decided to carry out relining at this lock during the planned stoppage instead of Lock 12.

The relining at Lock 12 will be deferred until winter 2019.

The remaining works on the flight include grouting work at Lock 6 and the replacement of coping stones at Lock 8.

The opportunity provided by the drought closure has enabled us to carry out much of our planned winter works on the Bosley Flight ahead of schedule.

This has included the relining of the top mitre gates at Lock 5, repair to the top ground paddle frame, fitting of new bottom gates, quoin and cill and laying of new stone quadrants, also at Lock 5.    New oak liners have been fitted to the top and bottom mitre gates at Lock 3.   Contractors have carried out grouting repairs at Lock 8, as part of the national grouting programme.

The remaining winter works will be completed, as originally planned, during the programmed closure, now from Monday 5th until 30th November.  This is two weeks shorter than originally planned.

The remaining works on the flight include the re-lining of Lock 12 bottom gates, grouting work at Lock 6 and the replacement of coping stones at Lock 8.

Description

Extensive grouting, masonry and gate repairs at Locks 3, 8 and 12, to reduce leakage.

Please note we are taking advantage of the unexpected closure of the Bosley flight during August to bring forward the gate replacement and repairs at Lock 5
