Handcock's Swing Bridge (No. 6) / Wango Lane - Leeds & Liverpool Canal

We are undertaking works to Handcock's Swing Bridge (No. 9) on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal to facilitate full user operation.  From the 10 to 30 March 2018 our contract teams will be completing the following works:

• Installing drop barriers either side of the bridge
• Replacing / refurbishing the hydraulics on the bridge to ensure the bridge is safely operable
• Upgrading the bridge operating system to enable single boaters to operate the bridge
• Improve security around the mechanised bridge

A road closure will be in place for the duration of the works and a diversion will be signed by the local highways team. 

Pedestrian access will be maintained using a floating footpath. 

During the above period, we will be offering one slot per day for boat passages.  This will be between 10am and 11am daily (7 days per week).
