In order to conserve water in the Wigan area, we will continue to implement overnight restrictions in the Wigan central area.
Lock 88 (Pagefield Lock) to Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and Lock 1 on the Leigh Branch will be opened at 8am and locked at 3pm daily.
We will review these times in 2 weeks and an update will be issued 2 November 2018.

Following a sustained period of warm weather, we are experiencing low water levels in the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and reservoirs. To conserve water, we are reducing the opening times at Poolstock Locks, along with Lock 88 (Pagefield Lock) to Lock 89 (Ell Meadow Lock).
These locks will be opened at 8am and locked at 3pm daily.
Description
In order to conserve water in the Wigan area, Canal & River Trust North West will be implementing overnight restrictions in the Wigan central area.
Lock 88 (Pagefield Lock) to Lock 89 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and Lock 1 on the Leigh Branch will be padlocked from 8pm to 8am daily.
These measures will be in place from 19 March 2018 until 30 September 2018.
