The navigation is now open. The Environment Agency have confirmed they have cleared as much oil as possible. Small pockets will remain around moored boats, which we will continue clean over upcoming weeks.

Update on the closure following the pollution incident.

The Environment Agency contractors, supported by the Trust, are still clearing the oil where it has collected at the boom at Lea bridge Road and further down at Old Ford Lock. This is causing the closure to remain in place.

Movement from Old Ford Lock up to the boom at Lea Bridge is still allowed along with movement north of the boom to Tottenham lock. Sanitary facilities are still available at Springfield marina. .

Please DO NOT cross the boom at Lea Bridge Road.

Boaters are asked not to break the booms or go through any of the closed off locks whilst the clean up efforts are still ongoing.

We would like to thank all the boaters and members of the public that gave up their time to help with clean up last week.

We will be reviewing the situation again on Monday 19th March

Update on the closure following the pollution incident.

The Hertford Union bottom lock is now open and you can move freely up to the Old Ford Lock.

Movement from Old Ford Lock up to the boom at Lea Bridge is still allowed along with movement north of the boom to Tottenham lock. Sanitary facilities are still available at Springfield marina. .

Boaters are asked not to break the booms or go through any of the closed off locks whilst the clean up efforts are still ongoing with the Trust and the EA.

Following the ongoing pollution incident the remaining navigation closures remain in place on the Lee Navigation.

Tottenham Lock down to the boom at Lea Bridge Road, movement is now allowed and sanitary facilities are available at Springfield marina. Charges have been waived for elsan and water, but please be aware paying customers will take priority at the marina.

Operating hours Saturday 9am-1pm, Sunday Closed.

Please DO NOT cross the boom at Lea Bridge Road.

South of the boom from Lea Bridge Road down to Old Ford Lock, movement is still allowed in this area for the use of the facilities.

Following the ongoing pollution incident the remaining navigation closures remain in place on the Lee Navigation.

Tottenham Lock down to Lea Bridge Road where there is a boom in place to contain the pollution. Boats can move for water and sanitary reason between Old Ford and the boom at Lea Bridge Road. Boats should only move if absolutely necessary.

Stonebridge Lock has now been removed from this restriction.

All other stoppages remain in place ( Tottenham - Old Ford and the Bottom lock on the HU)

Clean up efforts are still ongoing with the Trust and the EA between Lee Bridge and Tottenham.

Boats can now move for water and sanitary reason WITHIN THIS POUND ONLY. Boats should only move if absolutely necessary.

Description

Urgent navigation closure due to an earlier pollution incident. The navigation from Stonebridge Lock to Hertford Union Bottom Lock is closed. This includes, Tottenham Lock and Old Ford Lock. This is to avoid further spread of the oil.

The Locks are to be locked closed.

Boats are asked not to navigate to stop the spread of the oil within the stoppage area.

The Environment Agency are currently managing the spill.

Please check back for further updates. We will endeavour to open the navigation as soon as practical.
