06/11/2017 16:46

Works taking place overnight 3 November 2017 to 13 November 2017 from 5pm to 7am daily

** Overnight navigation restriction **

As you’re probably aware the tow path through the tunnel has been closed for some time due to the ingress of oil from leaking oil cooled high voltage power lines in the management of UK Power Networks.

The works will consist on installing a temporary framework under the arch of the bridge (tunnel) to collect the oil and route it into collection material which can be regularly removed and replaced.  In so doing we will prevent further ingress onto the path and into the water.

The works will involve working off a boat with lighting and installing fixings into the underside of the bridge.  This will mean engines and generators being used and drilling taking place, whilst the contractor (Kier) will keep noise to a minimum some disruption is inevitable.
