The towpath on the River Soar is now open again for public use following resurfacing works between Belgrave Lock and Holden Street Bridge.
The works have gone very well and have completed ahead of planned completion despite a slight delay.
The final tar spray and chip surfacing will need to be laid when the weather is better (most likely April 2018 onwards) unless we are forecast a spell of unseasonably warm dry weather before then and can get the team to site. Our website will be updated accordingly.
As part of the LGF funded works, there will be a towpath closure for the final section of towpath upgrades in Leicester.
The closure will be between Belgrave Lock and Holden Street Bridge.
Contractors will be aiming for 1.8m width tar spray and chip surfacing with a low timber retaining wall at the back of the path against the existing boundary fence.
Customers are advised to use alternative routes, while these works take place.
Please follow advice on site.
