South Bridge 66, Clifton Road Bridge, Hillmorton, Rugby, Oxford Canal

The location of the towpath closure is just south of Bridge 66, Clifton Road, extending a total of 130m.

A diversion is in place around the works boundary

The navigation between Hillmorton and Clifton upon Dunsmore will be re-opened from 4pm on 16 March 2018 as planned. 

The third party contractor will be continuing to carry out drainage works along the side of the canal but these will not affect the navigation.  Boaters are asked to proceed with care.

Please be aware the towpath in this area is closed and a diversion is in place.  The towpath diversion will continue until September 2018 while the third party contractor carries out further works adjacent to the canal.

The canal will be closed to navigation between 5th February 2018 and 16th March 2018 (please see separate Navigation Closure notice 10520).  At other times, the navigation will remain open but will be subject to local restrictions from time to time.  Updates will be provided with details of these navigation restrictions.

A Third Party Works contractor will be completely closing the towpath to facilitate the installation of a new road bridge and associated works.

Due to the severe safety risk to the public during the construction process, the towpath at this location will be closed to the general public and a diversion put in place.

The canal navigation will remain open but will be subject to restrictions as the pace of the works intensifies.

Updates will be provided as to when navigation restrictions need to be put in place.
