Lock 7 to Lock 8, Hebden, Rochdale Canal

Following a review of the project we believe that we can delay the start of the works effecting the navigation until the 20th November and still complete in time,  This is provided that the whole of the pound between Locks 7 and 8 is drained at once from the 20th.

The planned draining of the section between Fallingroyd Tunnel and Lock 7 on 6th November, will not now to take place; the whole of the section will be drained on the 20th November.

The towpath will still need to be closed for the works, but now only from 13th instead of the 6th of November (1 week less than originally planned).

To carry out extensive repairs and reconstruction of collapsed wash walls at various locations.

Please be aware that, due to availability of external funding, the extent of repairs has been reduced and will now cover sections between Lock 7 and Lock 8 only.

Sections of the canal will be drained to allow the repairs to be carried out and areas of the towpath will be closed with suitable diversions in place. 

To carry out extensive repairs and reconstruction of 1km of collapsed wash walls at various locations between Lock 7 and Lock 18.  Please note that the full extent of the repairs is subject to external funding availability and may reduce as a result.  Sections of the canal will be drained to allow the repairs to be carried out and sections of the towpath will be closed with suitable diversions in place.  Details of these closures and draw-downs will be confirmed later in the year.
