The navigation between Hillmorton and Clifton upon Dunsmore will be re-opened from 4pm tomorrow as planned.

The third party contractor will be continuing to carry out drainage works along the side of the canal but these will not affect the navigation.  Boaters are asked to proceed with care.

Please be aware the towpath in this area is closed and a diversion is in place.  The towpath diversion will continue until September 2018 while the third party contractor carries out further works adjacent to the canal.

The works include bank protection, piling and abutment works for the new road bridge crossing.

The end date of this third party closure has been extended to coincide with the stoppage at Thornfield Bridge 75, Barby, and to allow contractors more time to complete their works.

Description

The works include bank protection, piling and abutment works for the new road bridge crossing, which is planned for installation in winter 2018/19.

Following customer feedback, the dates for this third party closure have been changed to co-ordinate with other works in the area, in order to reduce the impact on navigation.

A towpath diversion will be in place.
