The charity making life better by water

Meet Robert, Geoff, Anne & Daniel at Kidderminster Lock

Enjoying a boating holiday

We're not in any hurry - we're on holiday. Our journey started where we picked our holiday hire boat up in Worcester and we're heading west cruising up the Staffs & Worcs Canal. We cruised up the River Severn from Worcester to join the Staffs & Worcs Canal, and the plan is to carry on up to just beyond Greensforge.

I've been on holiday hire boat before but last time wasn't quite as relaxing as this holiday. It was bad timing because it had been raining a lot so the River Severn had flooded so much that we weren't able to go on it, and our plan had to change.

I'm from Kent in the south east of England, but I went to a Polytechnic in Birmingham so I know this area in the Midlands quite well. I know that there are a lot of canals around Birmingham.

Canal boat holiday

We've stopped at a few pubs on the route so far and I'm not sure how far we'll reach before it's time to moor up for the night, but I'm guessing we'll stop at Stourton Junction. We're cruising at our own pace so there's definitely no rush – we'll just see where we get to after we've worked through the locks.
