Macik & Tosia on the Kennet & Avon Canal Macik & Tosia on the Kennet & Avon Canal

Meet Macik & Tosia

This is my little girl, Tosia. She's three. We're boating together, with just the two of us on board today, so I'm asking people along the canalside if they can help us when we're working through the lock.

Tosia and I speak to each other in Polish, and she is a bit shy, so she sometimes takes a while to chat to new people we meet when we're travelling.

To keep her safe, I like her to sit on her special chair by me while we’re moving. She's very good and looks after 'Cat', her little cuddly cat.

My boat has moorings at Dundas, and we came from there this morning because I've got some work in this area tomorrow. I wanted to bring the boat up here sooner but the canal water at Avoncliff Aqueduct was really frozen so I was snowed in. I tried to break the ice with my barge pole but it was really thick ice and I couldn't break through it.

Boating through Bradford Lock

We've been travelling for nearly two hours today, so Tosia is getting a bit tired now. I think we're really ready to moor up once we've thanked everyone who has helped us get the boat through this lock.
