Exciting plans for a £20 million development along the Grand Union Canal in Birmingham have been unveiled.
Wharfdale Park Birmingham provides an excellent location for local companies looking to set up or expand their local business.Stuart Mills, property director
Our proposed development at Wharfdale Park, off Wharfdale Road Tyseley, will provide high specification build-to-suit warehouse and manufacturing units ranging in size from 20,000sq ft to a maximum of 150,000 sq ft available on a leasehold basis.
We have demonstrated confidence in the market by bringing forward the Wharfdale Park development, located in the Tyseley Environmental Enterprise District, one of six economic zones in the city. The investment will create many new jobs, improve the environment and benefit local residents with improved noise control and traffic management measures.
The site, close to both the Coventry Road and Stratford Road, is in an area renowned as one of the most buoyant and successful industrial hubs in Birmingham and is already home to a range of global, national, regional and local businesses.
Companies operating in the manufacturing, storage and distribution sectors benefit from a good pool of labour and excellent transport links to the national motorway network and Birmingham International Airport and Train Station.
Stuart Mills, property director at the Canal & River Trust, said: “Wharfdale Park Birmingham provides an excellent location for local companies looking to set up or expand their local business. Like many cities, there is a severe shortage of Grade A industrial accommodation in Birmingham and we are therefore confident that Wharfdale Park will prove to be an extremely attractive option.”
Demolition to clear the Wharfdale Park site, which has outline planning consent, is expected to begin early next year after the remaining tenants of the existing factory units have been relocated within the Tyseley area. Prospective occupiers of Wharfdale Park may be eligible for r grant assistance and Birmingham City Council will provide guidance on funding availability and eligibility criteria.
The Trust has appointed its development company H2O Urban to deliver the scheme. H2O is a national joint venture company owned 50% by the Trust and 50% by private developer bloc Ltd. H2O Urban is working on a series of regeneration and redevelopment projects across the UK to maximise opportunities
