Full story: Growing up my parents were hippies - totally free-spirited. We’d go to places like Stonehenge and Glastonbury, but during term-time I attended a strict boarding school. I hated it. I didn’t attend primary school as we travelled so much, but there comes a time when there are things you just have to learn, so off I went.  It was such an extreme for me, it felt like being in the army.

My upbringing was anti-establishment; it was the opposite of everything you’re normally told to do. It’s OK when you’re a kid because you just go along with it. It’s only problematic when you get older.  I didn’t feel like I could relate to the mainstream, I still don’t - ironically I’m now a teacher myself. I always felt excluded so I went for something more conventional and teaching seemed like a respectable occupation, something to talk about.

I like to come down to the canal to relax. Down here on the towpath you can escape the urban jungle up there. The juggling? That’s just for fun."
