The Lune Aqueduct is one of the Seven Wonders of the Waterways, a masterpiece of civil engineering. 202 metres (664 feet) long, it carries the Lancaster Canal 16 metres (53 feet) above the River Lune.

Join staff and volunteers from the Canal & River Trust for a morning of activities linked to history, geography and science. Walk to the top of the Lune Aqueduct to compare the features of the Lancaster Canal with the River Lune below.

Learn about the different canal and river habitats and the wildlife that lives there. Try pond dipping and identify all sorts of interesting creatures that live in this wetland habitat.

Guided trail

Explore the Lune Aqueduct from above and below on a guided trail.  

Pond dipping

Observe the diversity of different creatures that rely on water to live and grow. Pond dipping is available from April – July.

Habitats

Learn about the six different canal and river habitats and the wildlife that lives there on a self-guided animal trail. Carry out habitat sampling to identify creatures and plant species found in the nature park.
