Skerton Weir and Fish Ladder
Skerton Weir and fish ladder mark the site of Skerton Mill, a large water-powered corn mill that was demolished in 1950. The mill pool was a popular local swimming area. This is the high water mark of the river and you can regularly see many herons feeding here, along with cormorants.
The River Lune played host to an annual raft race. Michael Miller describes how he tested his homemade rafts on the canal basin between Halton Road and the aqueduct.
The next trail QR code is north at the western end of Lune Aqueduct.
