Before you set off, make sure you take a look at the child-friendly trails on our dedicated Canal & River Explorers website. We've got information on Prussian spies, catapult-wielding toll-keepers, boat horses, water voles and much more. You'd never guess your local canal had so many secrets to share.

Family walking on canal towpathOur Canal & River Explorers learning programme is highly regarded by teachers and group leaders, largely due to the support of our team of experienced education volunteers, who lead enjoyable and inspiring visits – in your classroom or club house at one of our museum or out on the towpath. Find out more on our education pages.

But parents and families can also play our interactive games, take part in our Great Nature Watch and learn all about being SAFE near water on our Explorers website.
