Gillingham AA Xmas Match

Gillingham AA Christmas Match is on Sunday 16 December on the Upper Reaches of the River Stour between West Stour and Marnhull in Dorset. Entry is £15, for more information and to book in, phone Dave Sealy on 01747 823159

Heronbrook Festive Pairs Open Match

Heronbrook Fisheries in Slindon, nr. Eccleshall, Staffs. ST21 6LX are running a Pairs Open Match on Saturday 29 December 2018.

The price will be £30 per person which includes a reduced peg fee of £5. There will be a draw for partnering and the match is based on 20 pairs entering. There will be a £50 prize for the winner of each of the 8 sections. The top individual will receive £100 in prize money. The top pair will receive £250, pairs' second £150 and pairs' third £100.

These are dates for forthcoming matches on the Shropshire Union Canal, which will coincide with the 2019 Div 2 National.

All proposals are now on the agenda and all club officials and bailiffs are up for re-election If you are interested in doing anything for the club on a voluntary basis please come to the meeting and offer your services.

Shroppie two day winter classic

Shroppie two day winter classic Will take place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 December.

Day 1 - (shady oak, beeston CW6 9UE). Pegged either side of the bridge. Draw at shady oak pub, will be breakfast available, please take advantage and help support local business.

Day 2 - (Egg bridge, waverton CH3 7PX). Again pegged either side of bridge, can go as far as Rowton bridge towards Chester.

This match is in-conjunction with colmic northwest and therefore a small donation of £1 per man off peg fees will go to help fund the division 2 national entry. This is added onto the entry fee, just in case you think I'm taking money out without telling you.

Entry £36 (deposit needed £6)

(£30 prize pot, £5 peg fees, £1 colmic)

Limited to 40 pegs due to pegging and parking

There will be mini sections of 5/6

Points will be based on bigger sections of 10/12 depending on turn out.

Points will decide overall winner after two days, then weight if tied etc.

Again there will be no overall pay out on day 1, as all overall money will be played out on second day. (Same as last year, makes a bigger prize pot)

  • No bloodworm or joker
  • No fishmeal groundbait or pellets
  • No pike to be weighed

Anyone found to be outside the rules will be banned from the match.

You will need to book on and a deposit payment of £6 will secure your place, no refunds. There will be a account number to transfer deposits or you can pay in cash. Up to you.

Predatory birds

As with every year the season for the cormorant and goosander has started, if you have any sightings or any images of these birds on our waters please let us have them, the details of our predation team are in he membership book and are on the website.

Where’s fishing?

Portsmouth Reservoir, fishing dead red maggots on the bottom or soaked pellet on the method will catch carp.

Warrington AA Announcement

Warrington AA are running matches open to anyone who has a Warrington AA membership card on their stretches of the River Mersey in Warrington, Cheshire on Saturdays and Sundays until further notice. There is a £5 pool and optional £5 Super pool, all monies paid out. Their membership runs from 1 April until 31 March, if you join in the next few weeks you can have the rest of this season’s membership free of charge plus the 2019/2020 season for a membership fee of £45 plus a £40 joining fee. They have a vast array of waters, check out the Warrington AA website.

The next match will be Saturday 20 October 2018 and the draw will be at 9:00am at Kingsway Allotments, Warrington, Cheshire WA1 3NX. A new river record was set by Derek Bibby at last Saturday’s match at Kingsway Allotments with 58-15-0 of bream, one of which weighed 6lb, a 5lb hybrid plus skimmers caught on groundbait feeder with maggot. New Poole Hall Open Match Times

From Sunday 14 October 2018, the open matches at Poole Hall Fisheries in Dodds Green, Alveley, nr. Bridgnorth, Shropshire WV15 6JD will be draws 9.00am at the on-site cafe with sport being between 10.00am and 3.00pm. £16 all in. Gillingham AA season tickets are now available from Todber Manor Fisheries, Crockers Hardware in Gillingham, and Revels Fishery near Dorchester.

Gillingham control seven miles of the Upper Stour, Lodden Lakes in Gillingham (separate ticket), ‘2 Counties’ Lake at Mere and have access to Todber Manor’s Whitepost Lakes.

They have a thriving match section run by Dave Sealey and a thriving junior section run by Jason Randall.
