Warrington AA Announcement

Warrington AA are running matches open to anyone who has a Warrington AA membership card on their stretches of the River Mersey in Warrington, Cheshire on Saturdays and Sundays until further notice. There is a £5 pool and optional £5 Super pool, all monies paid out. Their membership runs from 1 April until 31 March, if you join in the next few weeks you can have the rest of this season’s membership free of charge plus the 2019/2020 season for a membership fee of £45 plus a £40 joining fee. They have a vast array of waters, check out the Warrington AA website.

The next match will be Saturday 20 October 2018 and the draw will be at 9:00am at Kingsway Allotments, Warrington, Cheshire WA1 3NX. A new river record was set by Derek Bibby at last Saturday’s match at Kingsway Allotments with 58-15-0 of bream, one of which weighed 6lb, a 5lb hybrid plus skimmers caught on groundbait feeder with maggot. Gillingham AA 1st Winter Championship Match 2018

The first senior winter championship match is on 21 October 2018 on the River Stour. The draw is in the Riverside Cafe, West Stour, SP8 5RJ at 8.30am. Book in with Dave on (01747)823158.
 
The following week, the 28 October 2018, there is a celebration open of the life of Ray Collis, who sadly died recently, to be fished at Lodden Lakes, Gillingham, Dorset, SP8 4JY.

New Poole Hall Open Match Times

From Sunday 14 October 2018, the open matches at Poole Hall Fisheries in Dodds Green, Alveley, nr. Bridgnorth, Shropshire WV15 6JD will be draws 9.00am at the on-site cafe with sport being between 10.00am and 3.00pm. £16 all in. Angling Trust and Canal & River Trust Junior & Youth Canal Championship

To be held on the Shropshire Union Canal at Church Eaton in Staffordshire on Sunday 21 October 2018. Sponsored by Angling Direct.

Organised by the Canal & River Trust, Angling Trust and the Izaak Walton (Stafford) Anglers Association. The competition aims to show young anglers how prolific the nation’s canals can be, whilst giving them the chance to show off their skills alongside other like-minded young people, to compete to be crowned as a UK champion angler. This year, for the first time, there are two categories:

  • the junior event is open to competitors aged between 10 and 15 years old on the day of the competition
  • the youth event is open competitors aged between 16 to 18 years old on the day of the competition

Both categories are free to enter, with the winners taking home trophies and prizes donated by the generous sponsorship package provided by Angling Direct. All competitors will receive a prize.

Ticket information

Pegs are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fishing: 12.00pm - 4.00pm.

You will receive your ticket via the email address you provide. This ticket must be printed, and then presented on the day to the organiser.

Closing date for entries: Friday 12 October 2018 3.30pm.

Preston Innovations Woodland View News

From Wednesday 6 June 2018, Preston Innovations Woodland View, Hadley, Worcestershire, WR9 0AU will now be running an open match every Wednesday. Draw 9.30am at the onsite cafe. Fishing will be between 10:30am and 3:30pm. £14 all in. To spread the money around, section winners will be paid out.

Gillingham AA News

Gillingham AA season tickets are now available from Todber Manor Fisheries, Crockers Hardware in Gillingham, and Revels Fishery near Dorchester.

Gillingham control seven miles of the Upper Stour, Lodden Lakes in Gillingham (separate ticket), ‘2 Counties’ Lake at Mere and have access to Todber Manor’s Whitepost Lakes.

They have a thriving match section run by Dave Sealey and a thriving junior section run by Jason Randall.

Prices are as follows:

Day tickets £6 all year round on Bridge Pool. Day tickets for coarse fishing on the Great Lake start 1 August 2018 £7 (up to two rods). Brand new day tickets now available by prior arrangement on Lady Barbara Pool £10 (two rods) 8am to 8pm. A new stocking of rainbow trout went in the Great Lake, off the point and off the bridge recently and they are showing well now.

Recently restocked with 1,500lb of quality bream from 3lb to 4lb which are feeding well, Codnor Park Fishery nr. Ripley, Derbyshire NG16 5PX run weekly open matches on Wednesdays and Sundays. The prices are as follows:

Stoppos Fishery: New night fishing

Stoppos Fishery in Coton in the Elms, nr. Burton-on-Trent on the South Derbys/Staffs. border DE12 8EE have started night fishing by prior arrangement. A 28lb carp, plenty of twenties and lots from 10lb to 15lb, which are growing rapidly and in excellent condition have been caught recently. 24 hours cost £25 (two rods). Monkhall Fisheries Wednesday Affordable & Thursday Over 50's opens

Monkhall Fisheries in Monkhopton, nr. Bridgnorth, Shropshire, WV16 6XF are introducing Wednesday Affordable and Thursday Over 50's Opens starting Wednesday 18 January and Thursday 19 January  2017. The prices for both matches are £15 all in.

Winter times: Draw 9:00am at the onsite café. Fishing 10:30am until 3:30pm.

Summer times: Draw 10:00am at the onsite café. Fishing 11:30am until 4:30pm.

New night fishing sessions have now started for the first time ever this autumn at Poole Hall Fisheries in Alveley, nr. Bridgnorth, Shropshire, WV15 6JD. Contrary to the odd false rumour in current circulation, Poole Hall Fisheries in Dodds Green, Alveley, nr. Bridgnorth, Shrops, WV15 6JD is and always has been open for business as usual for pleasure and match anglers alike. The big catfish are also now showing for the specimen hunters out there. The day tickets are £6 per angler, £7 on the specialist Abbey Pool. Daily, including the weekend, concessional rates for Senior Citizens, disabled and under sixteen year olds cost £5 per angler. Fishermania River Trent Wednesday opens

John Harper of Fishermania is running regular Wednesday opens on the River Trent in Burton-on-Trent, East Staffordshire starting Wednesday 6 July 2016 until further notice. The draws will be at Watson's Street car park (DE14 3RG) at the back of Tesco, by the pump house at 9:00pm and sport will be between 10:30am and 3:30pm. The price is £15 all in.
