Barford AA Angling Festival 2018

We are pleased to announce that we are to running this year’s festival in the same week and with a similar format to last year.
We will be running the festival on Monday 2nd July, Wednesday 4th July and Friday 6th July.

We are looking to attract 48 Anglers to the festival, split into three zones, one above the weir in our deeper slower section and two below the weir in our faster shallower sections. Anglers will therefore fish one of the days above the weir and the other two days below the weir.

At this time of the year we expect to see good fishing results all along the river particularly in the sections below the weir, where anglers can expect to catch a variety of species, barbel and chub on some pegs, dace and roach on many of the streamier pegs and a selection of other fish including perch, bream, carp and eels on a variety of pegs both above and below the weir.

Last year the fishing was again very good with 20 double figure weights during the week, including three chub and barbel weights of 37lb, 34 lb and 31lb, and a variety of mixed barbel, chub, perch, roach and dace weights up to and exceeding 20 lb, very good early season fishing.
Consistency was good with the top 20 anglers catching in excess of 20lbs each over the 3 day festival.

Detailed below is a summary of how the festival will be run:
The festival headquarters will be at the Joseph Arch Pub (CV35 8HE) which is situated in the village of Barford itself. The pub is located on the right hand side of the main street in the village about 200 yards past the river bridge (approaching from the M40 junction at Warwick, junction 15).

The section draw for the first day will be made on Saturday 23rd June and will be shown on our website and e mailed out to all competitors on Tuesday 26th June. With bait and tackle requirements being different for above the weir we wish to give you ample notice of where you will be on day 1.

The peg draw on Monday & Wednesday will be at the Joseph Arch pub at 10-15 am and will be fifteen minutes earlier on Friday at 10-00 am.
The total cost of the festival will be £100 with a deposit of £50 required to secure your place on the festival and the remaining £50 to be paid before the draw on the first day. The peg / admin fees will be a modest £4 per day.

Fishing will be from 12-30 to 5-30 pm on Monday & Wednesday and 12 to 5 pm on Friday . Overall results will be based on a section points system and there will be a daily payout.

All 102 pegs on our waters will be used to give competitors the maximum space Available.

Breakfasts will be available at the pub at £6 and will be available each day between 9-00 & 10-30 am.

Tackle & bait is available at the local tackle shop listed below:
Bailey’s of Warwick

Phone Tony on 01926 491984
