Docklands, Demos and New Directions Archive Tour - Nottingham
Join Compass Presents for two creative workshops to explore the lived heritage of Nottingham and it's waterways through film.
Join us on either the 25 October 11.30am to 2.30pm or the 26 October 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
Docklands, Demos and New Directions is an archive film tour to communities along England’s waterways, that explores pivotal moments of social and cultural change as reflected in, and beyond, the archives.
The project uses waterways as a focus, recognising the migration stories, industrial actions and focal points for change city waterways represent.
Supported by cinema and heritage experts from Media Archive for Central England, City Arts and the Trust, over two workshops participants will:
- learn from cinema professionals how to curate an archive film package, which will be screened as part of the Broadway Cinema programme.
- share stories and uncover alternative perspectives to make a canal-side audio walk for local audiences.
- gain new skills and knowledge about the social history of Nottingham.
- enjoy a new understanding of the waterways of the city.
Workshops are free and no experience is necessary! We want to hear the stories that are important to you.
Food will be provided and transport costs can be covered. To register for your free place, please fill in this short form.
