You are invited to join us at the Anderton Boat Lift for one of our winter open days.
Did you know that Anderton Boat Lift is a scheduled ancient monument?
This year sees the start of essential maintenance on the 1875 built Lift to keep it operational. Over the next few years, the Lift will be getting some well deserved attention to make sure that it keeps running smoothly.
During the open weekend, visitors will get a chance to walk down into the rarely entered dry well, the area where the boat sits at the bottom of the Lift. Engineers will be on hand to answer questions about the skilled work they are doing.
There will be children's activities with our Explorers volunteers, step aboard an old working boat, and if you have a head for heights you can take a tour to the top of the Lift free of charge.
Parking, a cafe and toilets on site.
