Discover the role William Jessop played within the area in the latest of a series of temporary exhibitions.
William Jessop was a gifted and well-regarded engineer. He was chosen by the Ellesmere Canal Company to be their Chief Engineer. Jessop designed the canal and plotted the best route for it, choosing the spot that is now Ellesmere Port on the Mersey.
This exhibition will explore William Jessop’s importance in canal engineering and for the town we know today. It features original architectural drawings by Jessop for the Ellesmere Canal produced in 1794.
The LEGO Master, Steve Guiness, will be here with his business The Brick Guys, building an impressive scale model of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which will be over 3 metres long. Come along and get involved, helping to construct this fantastic LEGO model.
Come and join LEGO Master Builder Steve Guinness, who will teach you how to make an awesome mini model of our very own Canal Barge “Centaur”. Take it home at the end of the workshop and it may inspire you to create a whole marina full of boats!
