This exhibition captures images of the River Mersey and surrounding areas including the docks and locks of Liverpool, Cammell Lairds’ Shipyard in Birkenhead and the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port.
These places all demonstrate the Mersey’s maritime heritage and ask questions about its past achievements, subsequent decline and the revival of the marine industry in different forms.
Jan Sear is a Merseyside visual artist working largely in oils, Indian ink on paper and mixed media. She has been strongly influenced by the work of Liverpool artist Frank Green whilst her mentor Frances Seymour encouraged her to work with subject matter which has traditionally been an all-male preserve.
Entrance to the exhibition is included with the museum admission price
