Address

Melbourne Arm and Canal Head

Melbourne Arm will be hosting a boat rally (Pocklington Canal Society) to mark the opening of a further two miles of the Pocklington Canal to boats (taking the navigable total up to 6.5 miles from 4.5 miles, of a total 9.5 mile length). Everyone is welcome to the festival running alongside this, with boat trips, wildlife activities with Natural England and Eco Sapien, character led walks with Rusticus theatre company, stalls, food and more.

There will be kayaking taster sessions at Canal Head, as well as activities for the family. Our archaeological excavation will be continuing on the Denison’s Warehouse in the picnic area, so everyone is welcome to pick up a trowel and have a go at uncovering the past.

These two locations are four miles apart (level walk along the grass towpath).

Highlights include:

  • Boat trips aboard New Horizons
  • Willow weaving
  • Morris dancing
  • History and wildlife activities
  • Rusticus Theatre guided walks
