Coast 2 Coast is an environmental expedition of all female paddle boarders raising awareness of plastic pollution in UK waters.
The expedition is organised by Love Her Wild an adventure community for women set up by adventure blogger Bex Band. Erin Bastian of Evoke Adventure will lead an all female team of Paddle Pickup kayakers from Coast 2 Coast, joined by Paddle Pickup’s conservation manager Clare Osborn who will be co-ordinating the logistics to mkae sure the plastic they collect does not end up in landfill.
The aim with the Paddle Pickup expedition is simple; to encourage people to start reducing their single plastic usage, while raising local awareness about plastic pollution in UK waters.
On Monday 28 May the expedition will launch from National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port on the Shropshire Union Canal before heading onto the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, passing National Waterways Museum, Gloucester. The expedition will end in Sharpness on 15 June.
The local community of Ellesmere Port and surrounding areas are invited to the expedition launch. There will be short canal side talks by one of the expedition leaders, and local plastics campaigners followed by a celebratory send off for the team on their Coast 2 Coast adventure. Come along and meet the team, find out what inspired them to join and get some tips on what you can do to make a difference.
