Come along and meet the experts at Leeds Open Weekend.
Come and join us at this special visitor open weekend and experience the very bottom of Lock 1 on the Aire & Calder Navigation in Leeds while enjoying music, art, photography, rubber ducks and new lock gates!
There will be children’s activities, a chance to learn all about the new lock gates that have been fitted and see special performances from the Royal Armouries team in the lock. And while you're at it, visit the Royal Armouries right next to the lock (there's a great view into the lock from the museum staircase!).
Lock 1 hasn’t been drained for over 30 years, so there is a lot of exploring to be done. After the lock has been drained, our team will look at just what needs doing and remove the silt at the bottom. The construction team will also be replacing the huge gates, being made at Stanley Ferry workshop in Wakefield.
