This year Christmas is coming to Porters Row at the National Waterways Museum with the cottages traditionally decorated. You will be able to experience the sights, sounds and smells from our special Victorian cooking demonstrations and Mr Charles Dickens (in the guise of his most famous old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge) will attempt to tell his tale of Christmas Bah Humbug. There will also be live music from Wirral Grammar School.
The Porters Row cottages will be prepared for festivities in the old-fashioned way, taking you on a seasonal journey back through the decades.
At number 9 Porters Row you’ll meet historical food expert Lena as she demonstrates a menu of festive recipes. Using traditional equipment and techniques Lena will show how the cooks of the early 1800s created mouth-watering treats from Christmas puddings to hot chocolate.
After a successful premiere last year, Little Actors Theatre Company's festive production of "Humbug!" is coming to Porters Row. A certain Mr Charles Dickens (in the guise of his mosst famous old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge) attempts to tell his famous tale of Christmas Bah Humbug - with more than just a dash of help from his audience - because in the story, you are the star!
Live music will also be performed by Wirral Grammar School on both days.
