The Canal & River Trust will be celebrating the early days of canals at the National Waterways Museum, on Sunday, 13 August, with Horses at Work.
Now in its eighth year, the event has become one of the most popular attractions in the museum’s annual calendar of events.
Come along to the museum to see working horses giving a unique demonstration of horse-drawn canal boating, including the horses being harnessed and shod. Plus, get the chance to take a wagonette ride round the historic canal docks. There will be performances by Kate Vigurs and the opportunity for children to load and unload cargo from boat to horse and cart and to meet some of the characters who lived and worked here in the past – a fun day out for all the family.
As well as the horses, all the usual museum attractions will be available:
...and more – all within easy reach of junction 9 of the M53.
