Father and Son by Canal Location: Leeds and Liverpool

Distance - 9.3 miles

The first stop on our foray through Britain’s waterways takes us to Reedley Marina, tucked away in the outskirts of Burnley in East Lancashire.

While just under 10 miles in length there’s plenty to see along the route (Leeds & Liverpool Canal), capturing both the town’s industrial heritage and the untouched countryside which surrounds it. You’ll also pass the Steven Burke Cycle & Sports Hub, named after the double Olympic gold medal cyclist who hails from nearby Colne.

Expect:

  • mallards
  • moorhens
  • plenty of old mills
