Take the opportunity over the summer holidays to get out onto the water with us in Gloucester Docks. Experience the canal from a unique perspective on a canoe or paddle board with experienced instructors. Starting outside the National Waterways Museum, you will be introduced to the paddle-sport equipment and the skills needed to manoeuvre it.

No previous experience is necessary. You will be looked after by fantastic paddle team instructors from ‘Discover Paddling’ who have British Canoeing qualifications and are both highly experienced at, and passionate about paddle-sport.

The experience only costs £5 and lasts 45 minutes per session.

Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All participants must wear a provided personal flotation device. Please come wearing lightweight weather appropriate clothing you don't mind getting wet. Bring a changes of clothes for after your experience. Towel, clothes to wear on the water, dry clothing, old trainers/water shoes, sun cream and drinking water.

There will also be lots of free family activities beside the water and inside the museum to get involved in once you’re off the water or for those who prefer to stay on dry land! Food and refreshments are also available in our museum café (free entry). Admission to the museum exhibitions is charged separately – find out more here. Or take a 45 minute boat trip on our historic Dunkirk little ship along the canal.
