Tring Reservoirs SSSI
The four reservoirs at Tring supply the Grand Union Canal and its associated arms. The reservoirs support a diverse range of plants and animals. Habitats include tall fen communities, marshy grassland, and open water, which support breeding and wintering birds, and an interesting invertebrate community.
Plant species present include common reed, celery-leaved buttercup, and both common and lesser reedmace. The site includes a floristically rich ancient marshy grassland dominated by blunt-flowered rush, meadowsweet and common fleabane, along with a variety of sedges.
The reservoirs are also important for invertebrates, including water boatman and a diverse assemblage of dragonflies.
