Calcutt Lock Meadows SSSI

Located next to Napton Reservoir, Calcutt lock meadow SSSI comprises three small unimproved neutral grassland fields. The vegetation is characterized by an herb-rich community of the crested dog’s-tail – common knapweed type, dominated by crested dog’s-tail, sweet vernal grass, common bent, corn knapweed and lady’s bedstraw. Other grassland species found here include cowslip, betony and devil’s-bit scabious, saw-wort, dropwort, pepper-saxifrage great burnet s and adder’s-tongue.
