Brent Reservoir SSSI

Brent Reservoir feeds the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union canal and is important for breeding wetland birds, in particular for great crested grebe. The standing open water and associated habitats such as willow car, and fen and marsh support a diversity of waterfowl including; coot, great crested grebe, little grebe, moorhen, mute swan, pochard, shoveler, gadwall and smew, along with bullfinch, greenfinch, jay, willow warbler and wren. The wetlands areas support a plant communities comprising lesser pond-sedge, water forget-me-not, branched bur-reed, marsh woundwort, water-plantain, flowering rush, water dock and lesser reedmace.
