Bittell Reservoirs SSSI

Bittell Reservoirs SSSI

Adjacent to the Worcester & Birmingham Canal; Bittell Reservoirs form the largest area of open water in Worcestershire. The mixture of habitats is important for wintering waders and waterfowl, with over 200 species recorded, including great crested grebe, little ringed plover and grasshopper warbler. The reservoirs are also home to some rare shoreline plants such as slender spike rush and mudwort, and support a very diverse range of aquatic plants such as small pondweed, blunt-leaved pondweed and horned pondweed.
