The Kennet & Avon Canal meanders through the market town of Newbury, with a pretty waterside path running alongside it, and plenty of boat moorings.
At Newbury Wharf, you can see many buildings linked to the canal’s history. The Granary Building is now a museum and the Stone Building is now used by the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust. The nearby Victorian Corn Exchange now houses an arts centre with a diverse programme of film, music, drama and comedy.
The canal passes through the leafy Victoria Park, with the traditional English attractions of a boating lake, bandstand and bowls club.
