Pocklington Canal Amenity Society

Since the Pocklington Canal Amenity Society was formed in 1969, its volunteers have done a great deal to improve and maintain the canal. Volunteers run the PCAS Information Centre at Canal Head, where there is a popular picnic site just off the A1079 Hull to York road. It is open on Sunday and Bank Holiday afternoons from April to October. Volunteers also run the PCAS trip boat New Horizons, which is based at the Melbourne Arm of the canal. Please see the PCAS website for details. Most of the Pocklington Canal is peaceful and it offers considerable wildlife and heritage interest.

Disability Access Information

Platforms for disabled anglers are provided at Canal Head. There is a towpath along the entire length of the canal. Parts are uneven and it can be muddy in wet weather. It is generally flat except at those access points beside road bridges. More detail is available on the PCAS website.
