Coventry has won the title of UK City of Culture for 2021. With millions of pounds awarded for re-generation projects along with an exciting programme of activity and events its hoped that Coventry will establish itself firmly on the map as a visitor destination.
Whilst Birmingham will be welcoming huge crowds to the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where plans are underway to showcase the region’s strengths of being ‘connected and accessible; youth and inclusivity; and a focus on regeneration and rejuvenation’.
The Canal and Rivers Trust recognises the potential opportunity of showcasing our amazing network of canals to a new audience and encourage more visitors onto the waterways.
With many of the host venues within close proximity of the canal network the Trust is keen to assist the development and expansion of boating businesses in order to take advantage of the influx of visitors. We’re keen to talk to operators about potential opportunities near the following locations:
