Do you know how to blog, vlog and tweet? Are you aged between 16-25? Have you got a great eye for photos? We’re looking for young volunteers who can join our digital action squad and create great content for our website and social media channels.

You need to be creative, organised and up to speed on digital media trends. In return you’ll get to work with our professional digital marketing team, receive lots of advice and real world experience of working with a large national charity.

We have an ever-growing youth engagement programme spanning all areas of interest including; practical towpath works, performing and visual arts, music, the environment, history and heritage, education and much more. We want to let as many young people as possible know all about it – and we want someone like you to help us do exactly that.

We’re putting together a team of creative volunteers with an interest in digital technology and new media to help us review and update relevant content on our website and other digital channels. We need you to blog, vlog, tweet, write features, add photos, upload short films and generally help us to make our youth pages as exciting, dynamic and appealing as possible.

What you will get out of it

We’ll give you initial training, reasonable expenses, ongoing feedback and support. Not forgetting the amazing opportunity to create content which will be published on our main brand channels. This is great experience for anyone looking to pursue a creative career in marketing or digital media.

You need to have a real interest in digital channels and be skilled in writing copy that will engage and appeal to young people (aged 16-25) across a number of platforms including: our website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. We’re also looking for volunteers to create and upload content to our YouTube page. Don’t worry if you haven’t had lots of related experience, as long as you have strong writing and/or photographic/media skills we’ll be able to help you get started.    

This role is primarily home-based but there will be opportunities to meet and work alongside the digital team. There’s lots of potential for fun days out on the water – the role is as big as you make it!

Ideally we’d like two days commitment each month as a minimum.
