Find out everything you ever wanted to know about offside vegetation at the Canal & River Trust.
What should I do if there’s vegetation blocking the navigation?
We decide how often to cut back offside vegetation by looking at our visitors’ requirements and environmental considerations. However, If a tree is blocking the navigation please contact us email@example.com or 0303 040 4040
Why have you left the cuttings behind?
Whenever vegetation works are undertaken a decision is taken whether to remove the cuttings off site or to leave them as habitat piles. However, if the cuttings have been deposited on your property please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0303 040 4040
Do you ever cut back vegetation on a third party property?
The Canal & River Trust has a legal obligation to ensure that the navigation is free from obstructions, we undertake all works from our own property and deposit the arising’s back on the offside embankment.
If you carry out work that leaves my boundary wall vulnerable/exposed, will you make arrangements to secure my property?
Regarding any work which exposes a property boundary, it is not up to the Canal & River Trust to provide security for that property and we would suggest that the local authorities are contacted if anti-social behaviour has occurred.
