The North West Waterways Partnership is one of 12 Partnerships which are a key part of the governance of the Trust. They give people a voice in the development and management of their waterway, help to shape plans for each waterway, guide the Trust’s decisions about spending, develop local engagement, external funding and championing the interests of the waterways.
The partnership is working closely with the waterway manager and has developed a strategic plan and action plan for the waterways in the North West. The plan, together with plans developed by the other partnerships, has also helped shape the new vision, values and 10-year strategy for the Trust.
In the next three years we are looking to build on the work already undertaken by each of the partnerships and the inspiration and advocacy they provide for the work of the Trust. The North West Partnership will be focusing on delivering its waterway action plan which will encourage more people to get involved with their local waterway, adding value to the work of the waterway manager and her team, and the resources they have available.
We are looking for candidates who are team players, able to engage and inspire with potential partners including businesses, at public meetings, talking to groups, and with the media. Members will have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
We aim to appoint members who are knowledgeable of the North West Waterways Partnership area and are keen to encourage interest from members located in or around Skipton, Bradford or Leeds – see Area 1 on the waterways map.
The duty of all members of the partnership is to act in the best interests of the waterway rather than to represent any particular interests or causes.
