Waterways Chaplains are independent of the Canal & River Trust and offer welfare support to people on the UK's canals and rivers.
Chaplains are volunteers from local churches who regularly visit the waterways offering companionship and a listening ear to individuals and businesses.
Waterways Chaplains are trained volunteers who are very connected with their local communities. They respond to referrals but also proactively ‘come alongside’ boaters in need, especially those with personal challenges.
