Why we think canals are better with Friends
Become a Friend of the Canal & River Trust today and you’ll open yourself up to new experiences and endless opportunities.
We love and care for your canals and rivers, because everyone deserves a place to escape.
We’re looking for local groups who would love to work with us to make more of their local waterway.
If your community group is keen to get more involved with your local canal, river or reservoir, you can submit your ideas for an initial project – and we will support you.
In return, your group will agree to take on volunteering activities to help look after your local waterway. This could be linked to the initial project or another opportunity such as volunteer rangers or a community adoption. Our volunteering pages provide more information on how you can get involved.
Your successful application could include (but should not limited to):
Don’t be limited by these suggestions – we want to hear your new ideas!
Funding for this scheme is limited so we'll be judging applications on the following:
A panel made up of waterway staff, local volunteers and partnership members will judge all applications.
You can read the terms and conditions here.
If you would like further information on the scheme, please email email@example.com with your query and contact details and we will get back in touch.
Please download and complete the application form (Word and PDF versions available) and return by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by 31 January 2018. Both can be completed electronically; the PDF version can be completed using “fill and sign” in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.
