What’s going on in the East Midlands

Here you'll find all our stories from across the region. From what projects we're involved with right now to perfect places to visit to discover a #hiddenworld - because we take pride in making sure everybody can enjoy our wonderful East Midlands waterways.

Whether you’re looking for a traffic-free route to school or work or somewhere to unwind at the weekend, our canals and rivers have something for you.

Take to the towpath...

You'll find three new running routes here in the East. Covering 2km, 3km and 5km, they're ideal if you’re following the Couch to 5k programme.

Cycling is also great exercise and riding beside the waterways is a fantastic way to unwind. Just remember our Towpath Code!

We’re working to install more places to lock your bike so you can enjoy a stop at many of the wonderful waterside pubs and cafes across the East Midlands. If there’s a location you’d like us to consider, please let us know by email

If fishing’s your thing, our rivers, canals and reservoirs provide plenty of opportunities. Our fishing pages have everything you need to know to start fishing on our waterways.
