The East Midlands Waterways Partnership has up to three Member vacancies.
Waterway partnerships are a key part of the governance of the Trust. We give people a voice in the development and management of their waterway, shape plans for each waterway and guide the Trust’s decisions about spending.
Part of our work is about seeking opportunities for investment in the waterways with partner organisations, finding new resources and capacity to improve the assets and facilities around the waterways and widening access to them. All of this is about developing local engagement and championing the interests and appeal of all the East Midlands' waterways across all our communities and age ranges.
The chair of each partnership has a seat on the Trust’s council. The East Midlands Partnership is chaired by Danny Brennan and we have a membership of 11.
The partnership is working closely with our waterway manager to develop and implement a strategic plan for the East Midlands waterways, including strategies and plans to encourage more people to use and get involved with their local waterway and to add value to the work of the waterway manager and his team, and the resources they have available.
The partnerships are made up of a range of people drawn from different interests. This includes boating and other waterway activities, such as angling, cycling and restoration. It also includes wider interests and skills, including regeneration; environment; engineering; marketing and wider partnership working with the public, commercial and charitable sectors.
We now seek to recruit up to three new members to the partnership with experience and expertise in all areas of interest that can benefit the waterways and our objectives for them. We are particularly interested in skills and experience around youth engagement, corporate relationships and urban and rural regeneration, but we are open to applications from all those who share our objectives and feel they can contribute to delivering them.
We are looking for candidates who are locally-based, team players, credible, knowledgeable and willing to take a lead in one or more of the areas of action we are developing through our Ten Year Strategy. The duty of all members of the Partnership is to act in the best interests of the waterway rather than to represent any particular interest or cause.
