The team has carried out some work at Lock 10 to try and fix the paddle. The paddle frame is broken and will need to be fixed under a further stoppage in the near future when we have the items to be installed. The existing paddle has been fixed insitu so that it prevents further loss of water to the pound but cannot be used by boaters.
Description
One of the ground paddles at Lock 10 has failed and is affecting the water levels in the pound above the lock due to the loss of water.
The team need to install stop planks and drain the fore bay of the lock to carry out an urgent repair to the paddle.
It is anticipated that the repair will take a couple of hours and a further update will be posted to keep boaters informed.
Sustaining a working 200 year old canal system occasionally requires unplanned maintenance work. Please bear with us we will try and keep disruption to a minimum.
